COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — As the city of Columbus continues to grow, COTA is looking ahead to make way for more people on the road with changes to its public transportation system.
Voters approved a tax levy this month aimed at enhancing transit options across Central Ohio, which COTA officials have called a historic step forward.
The additional tax revenue will fund the LinkUS initiative, which includes plans for expanded bus service, rapid bus lines, and the development of sidewalks and bike paths.
“We will really begin implementing LinkUS,” Monica Tellez-Fowler, President and CEO of COTA, said. “What that means is 45% more COTA service.”
The sales tax increase, set to begin in 2025, will rise by half a percent.
