PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) – Crook County is in the process of updating its Transportation System Plan (TSP), a 20-year strategy that outlines key transportation investments throughout the county.
The update aims to address both current and future challenges, such as congestion and safety at critical intersections like Powell Butte Highway and OR-126, as well as at other key locations.
In addition, the county is developing detailed design concepts and cost estimates for potential new roadway access options to the Juniper Canyon community. These new designs build on previous work, providing more insight into possible connections and their expected costs and impacts.
Crook County is inviting the public to review and provide feedback on proposed transportation investments, including potential access options and costs for the Juniper Canyon area, at two upcoming open houses.
These events will offer community members the opportunity to not only review the proposed plans but also share their input on the solutions being considered. Public feedback is crucial in helping the project team understand the community’s preferences and shape future transportation investments to meet local needs.
Commissioner Seth Crawford said, “Right now, safety issues in Powell Butte and a second access to Juniper Canyon need a solution. We look forward to input from our citizens about specific options in both areas.” Public feedback will help ensure the future transportation system reflects the needs and wants of those living and working in Crook County.
