Prior to his appointment, Prabhakaran worked as the vice president and CTO for the process solutions group at American conglomerate Honeywell based in Texas in the US, driving technology innovation and customer-centric solutions for its customers globally.
He has over three decades of experience in the engineering, research & development (ER&D) sector will move to Bengaluru in India.
Last month, Cyient appointed its new chief executive officer Sukamal Banerjee, who joined after its former head Karthikeyan Natarajan resigned following the poor performance of the company’s third quarter earnings.
For the October to December quarter, Cyient reported a 31% year-on-year drop in net profit at Rs 128 crore on a revenue growth of 5.8% to Rs 1,926 crore.
Cyient group operates in two key businesses—DET and DLM – design led manufacturing.

Analysts had pointed out under Natarajan, Cyient’s reliance on the aerospace and defence sector, creating more annuity-led streams of revenue, and entering high-growth areas such as automotive.Prabhakaran has led large global teams in different industries, such as aerospace, oil & gas, life sciences, and renewable energy verticals, developing new products and solutions creating organic growth pathways.
“His expertise is building technology solutions for large OEMs in areas like avionics, a key focus area for Cyient… He will play a pivotal role in expanding the company’s technology footprint by fostering innovation, building future-ready competencies, and seeding new capabilities across the organization,” Cyient said in a statement.
