Dramatic video captures wooden board smashing into car's windshield on Verrazano: 'Complete shock' – New York Post

Heart-pounding dashcam video captured a Brooklyn man miraculously dodging death when high winds on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge sent a wooden board flying off a truck and into his windshield last week.

David Deng and his family were on their way to a funeral Wednesday when they passed a white pickup truck whose driver had apparently stopped in an opposite lane to try to secure a large wooden board in the rear of his vehicle.

Video shows the projectile then suddenly going airborne and flying into Deng’s windshield, shattering it, according to footage aired by WABC-TV New York.

“I was in complete shock,” Deng told the outlet. “I pretty much knew what was happening at the moment. But everyone was in shock, and we were like, ‘What are we gonna do?’ “

Deng amazingly kept his cool during the freak mishap.

“There was shattered glass on our clothes and our seats as well,’’ he told NBC-TV News. “The smart decision is continue driving and find a safe spot, pull over.”

Driving blind thanks to his shattered windshield, Deng eventually pulled over once they got across the Staten Island-Brooklyn bridge and eventually made it to the funeral on Staten Island, he said.

Deng said he did not report the incident to the NYPD at the time because he and his family were in a rush to get to the sad event. He is now asking anyone who witnessed the hair-raising incident to reach out to him or police.
