Best New Vacuum Cleaner of the Year – Winner: Dyson WashG1

If your home has a lot of sealed, hard flooring, the Wash G1 is a quick-clean revelation. It mops and picks up dirt at the same time, and cleans on the back stroke as well as going forward, so it’s a huge time-saver. And it’s much less likely to jam up than rivals, as it doesn’t actually use suction to lift dirt from the floor, which means that you won’t get clogged pipes inside the machine.

The Wash G1 is a quick-clean revelation

It’s cordless and very easy to use. All you need to do is charge it and fill the water tank, and off you go. It’s motorised, so you don’t even need to push it along, just steer. The results are excellent and speak for themselves – the first time you clean your floors, you’ll be surprised at how much dirt it picks up.

Best Vacuum Cleaner of The Year – First Runner-Up: Samsung Bespoke Jet AI

The Bespoke Jet AI wasn’t released in 2024, but it’s leagues ahead of the competition and still undoubtedly one of the best vacuum cleaners you can buy. What sets it apart from many other models is its sleek look, its AI mode – which ramps up the power when needed to handle dusty spots – its armful of cleaning accessories, and best of all, its self-emptying dock, the Clean Station.

The entire package makes it one of the simplest, most seamless vacuuming experiences available. And if you have a smaller home or city apartment where you need to leave your vacuum on display, it’s the absolute best option to go for.

Best Vacuum Cleaner of The Year – Second Runner-Up: Shark Detect Pro

This is another launch from the end of 2023, but we love this little cordless for its budget-friendly price and ease of use. You can buy the vacuum alone, or with its Auto-Empty Stand. Like the Bespoke Jet AI, it’s an adaptive cleaner, with dirt, edge and flooring type detection. Its headlights will also come on automatically in dim conditions.

Among its other smart design features are its LED screen and the way that it folds into a compact for for storage. Altogether, its feature set is impressive for its price point.
