In recent years we’ve seen several video game companies get started in Texas, as well as several video games INCLUDE Texas in the games. That includes El Paso. We’ve seen two major studios get started IN the Sun City that have been getting the attention of the public eye.
One of El Paso’s own homegrown studios is As An Enemy Studios
Since 2017, As An Enemy Studios was founded in El Paso, Texas by Jaycee Salinas (he’s also the man behind the music group, Howard Roarke). For years they have been developing their very first game which came out in 2019 called “A Dual Hand Disaster: Trackher“. You take control of these tiny ships with one goal in mind…get the highest score possible.
Strange Scaffold Studios is another studio formed in El Paso, Texas
The man behind Strange Scaffold Studios, creative director Xalavier Nelson Jr, has been designing video games since 2019. Despite being a UTEP drop out, Xalavier has racked up an incredible resume; he was included in Forbe’s 30 Under 30 – Games list & some of the video games he’s been responsible for creating include:
- Reigns: Beyond,
- Hypnospace Outlaw,
- An Airport for Aliens Currently Run by Dogs,
- Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator
- and of course, the game named after his hometown: El Paso, Elsewhere. Which has received quite a bit of praise of some of the biggest video game sites out there…
So far those are the only two studios to come out of the Sun City but it seems like it won’t be the last time that El Paso will be involved in the world of video games…
