Today is Election Day in the United States, and the News app built into your iPhone can help you stay informed throughout the day.
In the News app, you can find up-to-date information on how to vote in your state as well latest news and developments. Most notable, however, is that the News app has a built-in Live Activity to help you follow the election results in real-time today.
Follow the election results on your iPhone
As a refresher, a Live Activity on your iPhone appears in the Dynamic Island as well as on the Lock Screen. It updates in real-time with the latest information.
The Live Activity in the Apple News app will begin later today when the polls start to close across the country. You can sign up to have the Live Activity appear right as that begins by opening the News app and tapping on the “Follow the election live” banner at the top.
Once the first results start rolling in this evening, the Live Activity will then appear on your iPhone’s Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. It will update in real-time with the latest information about the presidential race as well as the house and senate results.
The News app will also collect the latest Election Day news throughout the course of the day. You can also find in-depth voter information for your specific state with details provided by NBC News.
