After years of giving the cold shoulder to Apple’s HomeKit platform, Anker’s Eufy has surprisingly announced its second new HomeKit security camera in just a few months.
On sale now for $69.99, the Eufy Indoor Cam E30 is an indoor camera with a motorized lens that pans, tilts, and zooms around the room, and it works with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit. (Prime members can score it for just $59.99. Don’t have Prime? Sign up for a 30-day free trial to snag it at this price anyway!)
The Indoor Cam E30 follows Eufy’s first HomeKit camera in a few years, the S3 Pro Outdoor Cam, which made its debut back in September. The new Indoor Cam E30 is essentially a revamp of an older PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera, the Indoor Cam 2K Pan and Tilt from 2020.
While the older indoor cam was restricted to 2K video resolution, the just-announced Indoor Cam E30 ups the ante to 4K, marking a significant jump in video quality. (It’s worth noting that HomeKit users will be capped at 1080p quality, though.)
The new E30 also boasts an integrated spotlight, allowing it to illuminate subjects at night while delivering color night vision. The cam also offers “seamless” switching to infrared night vision when lighting conditions are too dim for color, uses on-board AI processing to detect people and pets, and can also keep an ear out for notable audio cues (like crying babies).
Besides being able to spot humans and four-legged friends, the E30’s panning, tilting, and zooming lens can also track their movements around the room. Finally, two-way audio allows for real-time remote chat with people (or even pets) in a monitored area.
Like many of Eufy’s other security cameras, the E30 supports local storage of recorded videos, meaning there’s no need for a paid subscription plan — just plug in an SD card and you’re good to go. The camera also works with Eufy’s HomeBase S380, a wireless base station that provides up to 16TB of storage plus “BionicMind AI” facial recognition.
Besides local storage, Eufy offers subscription options if you prefer the cloud, starting at $2.99 per month (or $29.99 per year) for 30 days of video history on a single camera. The Eufy Plus plan covers up to 10 cameras for $9.99 per month (or $99.99 per year).
We’ll have a full review of the Eufy Indoor Cam E30 once we check out a sample unit.
