MATTHEWS, N.C. (WBTV) – No one was hurt in a fire at an auto repair shop in Matthews Saturday afternoon, according to the Matthews Fire Department.
The Matthews Fire Department said the fire happened at Woodie’s Auto Service on Monroe Road around 2:30 p.m. and took about 15 minutes to control.
The fire started in or under a car that was being worked on and spread to the rest of the car.
The inside of the shop sustained fire, heat and smoke damage, as well as damage to six or eight other cars that were in the shop being worked on.
There were no injuries to Woodie’s employees or fire crews. Matthews and Charlotte firefighters responded to the shop.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Mecklenburg County Fire Marshal’s Office. There is no damage estimate as of Saturday afternoon.
