Fitbit on Android gets major redesign aimed at foldables & tablets

Last month, Fitbit announced a new program called “Fitbit Labs” that allows users to get help with their fitness and health data using Google Gemini. That’s not all, Fitbit for Android has been undergoing multiple redesigns in the past few weeks. According to a new report, the Fitbit app for Android received a major redesign for large-screen devices like tablets and foldable smartphones.

Fitbit on Android gets major redesign, now flaunts a new layout aimed at foldable and tablets

The latest update for the Fitbit app on Android fixes the weird-looking stretched-out phone interface on large-screen devices. One of the major highlights is the redesigned stat rings. Previously, Fitbit on Android used to display a large ring at the top accompanied by three smaller ones placed right below.

However, the redesigned layout now places all four customizable stat rings next to each other. Although it looks like a small change, Android users will surely welcome it since it offers a cleaner interface. It’s worth noting that the redesign is consistent across both portrait and landscape orientations.

On top of that, the resigned dual-column layout for each stat card in landscape mode replaces the single-column layout. The new layout allows users to easily view data at a glance without the hassle of scrolling.

The latest changes might be already visible to users

The update also brings a few changes aimed at enhancing the usability of the app on large-screen devices such as Android tablets and foldables. For example, the next/previous day controls are now repositioned which will help users navigate easily within the app.

Folks over at 9to5Google spotted the above changes in the Fitbit app version 4.30 for Android. The publication also notes that the redesigned layout for foldables and tablets might have rolled out earlier, though. So, it’s possible that the updated Fitbit app on your device might reflect all the above changes we discussed. All that said, Fitbit on Android still lacks dark mode.
