Apple this year with its AirPods Pro 2 revolutionized its wearable by building it as a hearing aid, and now it seems to be that Android is following the initiative by making it easier for consumers to connect their hearing aids to their phones.
Google is determined to make life easier for users that use hearing aids by offering easier connectivity
AirPods Pro 2 came out in September and made quite the mark in the tech community for bringing forward clinical-grade hearing assistance and taking a big step in in incorporating health-focused features into the company’s accessories. Apple making hearing support more accessible for its users was well-received and many companies started stepping up by taking the same inclusive approach towards its products. It seems that Google is also working arduously on making it easier for users to connect their hearing aids to Android phones with the help of its Fast Pair feature.
While the Google Fast Pair feature has been already available to help users connect with speakers or headphones, it is now being extended to hearing aids as well and marks a major step in providing health-oriented solutions. Android 15 has taken a leap in terms of accessibility by bringing ahead Bluetooth LE Audio and even ASHA for improved quality, reduced lags and extended battery life. Now Google, is making the experience more seamless by building up on Fast Pair and adding easier connectivity for hearing aid users.
This improvement has been seen in the Google Play Service 24.50.32 beta by Assembly Debug via Android Authority and emphasizes the company’s initiatives in simplifying accessibility for its users and not having them indulge in complex processes. The hearing aid will be identified as a Bluetooth device which basically translates as a hassle-free process for users and takes away the need to manually pair up the hearing aids to the phones by instantly connecting instead.
Although there is sparse information available on the hearing aid brands that would be compatible with the Fast Pair feature, we do know that Google is working towards bringing more convenience for its users and making its phones and the experience of its products more accessible for a wider user base.
