Friday Night MLB Doubleheaders Return To Apple TV+ Beginning March 28 – Forbes

Entering their fourth year together, Apple TV+ announces their early season MLB broadcast schedule for doubleheaders each Friday night for 25 weeks leading up to the postseason.

Produced by Major League Baseball, in partnership with Apple’s live sports production team, “Friday Night Baseball” begins at 6:30 pm ET on March 28 between the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays with the Mets against the Astros at 7:30 pm ET.

The broadcast team remains the same as it has for the past three seasons with Wayne Randazzo (play-by-play), Dontrelle Willis (analyst), and Heidi Watney (sideline reporter), and Alex Faust (play-by-play), Ryan Spilborghs (analyst), and Tricia Whitaker (sideline reporter). Lauren Gardner, Russell Dorsey, and Xavier Scruggs return to host live pre- and postgame coverage both in-studio and on the field.

“We’re thrilled to bring another season of ‘Friday Night Baseball’ to Apple TV+, with top-tier production quality that baseball fans love,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music, Apple TV+, Sports, and Beats. “This season, we’re excited to offer an amazing lineup of games with no blackouts, available across more devices than ever before.”

On top of games, Apple TV+ will air supporting studio content starting March 27 with the MLB Big Inning whip-around show featuring live look-ins and in-game highlights every weeknight, and a full slate of MLB-related content on Apple TV+, including Countdown to First Pitch, MLB Daily Recap, and MLB This Week. Content is also available for mobile device via the Apple TV+ app.

On top of the Friday doubleheaders, Apple announced that they will have an Apple Immersive Video for Apple Vision Pro called VIP: Yankee Stadium, that allows fans to take a tour of the stadium.

Additionally, Fight For Glory: 2024 World Series on Apple TV+ highlighting last season’s Fall Classic between the Yankees and Dodgers will be released. Produced in partnership with MLB and Imagine Documentaries; R.J. Cutler’s This Machine, a part of Sony Pictures Television with Derek Jeter as executive producer via his Cap 2 Productions.

Apple and MLB reached a seven-year agreement in 2022 that runs till the end of the 2028 season with a total value of $595 million. The deal pays MLB $85 million annually in a structure that sees $55 million in rights fees coupled with $30 million for Apple advertising. By comparison, the deal between MLB and ESPN, which will see the Worldwide Leader In Sports opt out at the end of the upcoming season pays $550 million annually.
