Galaxy S21 FE gets October 2024 security update in the US

Earlier this month, Samsung started rolling out the October 2024 security update for its S-series smartphones, starting with the Galaxy S24 series in the US. Since then the company continued to push this month’s security patch to its older S-series phones including the Galaxy S21 lineup. To our surprise, the update was initially unavailable for the Galaxy S21 FE. However, Samsung is now pushing the October 2024 security update to the Galaxy S21 FE.

The Galaxy S21 FE models start getting October 2024 security updates in the USA

Today, folks over at SamMobile reported that the carrier-locked models of the Galaxy S21 FE in the US have started receiving the October 2024 security update. The latest monthly update for the Fan Edition phone comes with firmware version G990USQSDGXJ4.

It’s worth noting that the update is available for Galaxy S21 FE phones on AT&T, DISH, and US Cellular networks. Not to forget, the factory-unlocked models of the same device in the US haven’t got this security update yet. However, we expect Samsung to roll out the new update to those units soon.

The latest security update doesn’t add any new features to the smartphone

The October 2024 security update for the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE fixes over 40 security loopholes found in the previous version. The latest software update comes with an installation package size of around 400MB. Remember, this month’s security patch doesn’t add any new features to the Galaxy S21 FE. However, it does bring some security improvements and stability to the device.

So, if you own a Galaxy S21 FE and live in the US, check for the update now. You can head to Settings > Software update for the same. On the Software update page, the device will scan for the updates. Once you see a new software update, make sure to tap the Download and install option.
