Galaxy S23 series get October 2024 security update in the US

Samsung has been rolling out the October 2024 security update to its smartphones for a few days now. The company initially pushed the latest security patch to the Galaxy S24 series followed by its latest foldables. Now, the South Korean tech giant has reportedly started rolling out the October 2024 security update for the Galaxy S23 series in the US.

The Galaxy S23 series start receiving the October 2024 security update in the US

Today, SamMobile reported that the Galaxy S23 series phones in the US have started getting the October 2024 security update. The latest monthly security update is live for carrier-locked variants of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra. We expect Samsung to push the latest security update to the carrier-unlocked variants in a few days.

The October 2024 security update for the Galaxy S23 carries the firmware version S911USQS4CXI4. On the other hand, the new update for the Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra comes with firmware version S916USQS4CXI4 and S918USQS4CXI4, respectively.

Notably, the Galaxy S23 FE hasn’t started receiving the latest security update in the region at the time of writing. If you live outside of the US, your Galaxy S23 series phones should start getting the October 2024 security update by the end of this month.

The latest security update fixes over 40 security loopholes

It is important to note that this month’s security update fixes over 40 security vulnerabilities reported in the previous version. Google reportedly patches 2 critical and 28 high-level security loopholes in total with one already fixed with the last update. Besides, there are two other fixes that are unrelated to Samsung.

On the other hand, Samsung fixes 12 security vulnerabilities related to Knox and system services. Let’s not forget that the latest software update comes with an installation package size of 400MB.

If you live in the US and have any of the Galaxy S23 series phones, you can check for the update now. You can do so by going to Settings > Software update. On the Software update page, wait for the device to scan for the update. Once the software update pops up, make sure to tap the Download and install option.
