Samsung has started rolling out the November 2024 security update for the Galaxy S series smartphones. The company has already pushed this month’s security update for the carrier-locked Galaxy S24 series phones in the US. Now, the Galaxy S23 series phones in the US are reportedly getting the November 2024 security update.
November 2024 security update is now live for the carrier-locked Galaxy S23 series in the US
The latest security update is now available for carrier-locked variants of Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23 Ultra on the Verizon network in the US. The November 2024 security update for the Galaxy S23 comes with firmware version S911USQS5CXI8.
Whereas, the latest security update carries firmware version S916USQS5CXI8 and S918USQS5CXI8 on the Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra, respectively. We also expect Samsung to roll out this month’s security update for the carrier-unlocked models of the Galaxy S23 lineup in the coming days. Worth noting that the Galaxy S23 FE is yet to receive this month’s security patch.
The latest security update fixes 50 security vulnerabilities
The November 2024 security update fixes 50 security vulnerabilities spotted in the previous software version. Specifically, the latest security patch fixes 38 high-risk security vulnerabilities discovered in the core Android operating system. Whereas, this security update also patches 13 issues found in Samsung devices.
As usual, this month’s security update doesn’t add any new features to the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. If you live in the US and have eligible devices, you should check for the software update now. You can do so by going to Settings > Software update.
On the Software update page, wait for your device to scan for the new software update. Once the software update pops up, make sure to tap Download and install, and you’re done. Moreover, Galaxy S23 users outside of the US might have to wait a few days or weeks before the latest security update reaches their devices.
