Recently, Samsung began rolling out the February 2025 patch to all of its eligible devices. The first devices to receive the update were the brand’s mobile flagships, including the Galaxy S24 series. So far, the OTA has only reached units in South Korea. However, Samsung is now expanding the February 2025 security update to the Galaxy S24 lineup globally.
Samsung’s February 2025 security update now reaching the Galaxy S24 series globally
Recent reports regarding the arrival of One UI 7 to the Galaxy S flagship phones of 2024 are discouraging. At least the company is still sending out monthly security updates on time—or so. As reported by SamMobile, the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra units outside of Samsung’s home country are already receiving the latest security patch. The new firmware is labeled under the build number S92xBXXS5AYB2 and is being seen first in Europe.
As has become usual in recent months, these updates only bring fixes to vulnerabilities and potential security issues. Samsung is very much engrossed in the development of One UI 7. It is striking that, at this point, the firm has not yet sent the Android 15-based update to the Galaxy S24 series. Some users are already beginning to believe that Samsung intentionally delayed this update to enhance the appeal of the Galaxy S25 series, which comes pre-installed with One UI 7. However, reliable tipsters claim that the firmware actually needs polish.
40 vulnerabilities have been fixed
Anyway, the February 2025 patch fixes up to 40 potentially exploitable vulnerabilities. There are 36 fixes from Google for the Android core, with 35 labeled as “High” severity and one marked as “Critical.” There are also four fixes from Samsung for vulnerabilities that affect its own products exclusively. Some of these allowed potential attackers to manage the Samsung Find security system and even forcefully enable ADB.
Now that the update is available in Europe, it shouldn’t take long to reach other countries.
