Galaxy S25 series again tipped to get a price increase

On January 22, Samsung will unveil all the devices in the Galaxy S25 series. Despite the company’s initial plans, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip will power the entire lineup. It seems that this decision, along with other factors, will lead to a price increase for the Galaxy S25 series in some regions.

This is not the first time we have heard about a possible price increase on Samsung’s next-gen flagship phones. Just being forced to turn to Qualcomm to source the chipset for the phones already represents a significant increase in production costs per unit. Let’s remember that the company wanted to use its own Exynos 2500 SoC in the vanilla and Plus variants, but Samsung Foundry’s severe issues prevented it.

The price increase on the Galaxy S25 series is practically a fact

Now, a report from a South Korean outlet supports the rumors about a price increase on the Galaxy S25 series. The first factor impacting the higher cost is the improvements in raw tech specs. Industry insiders estimate that using the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip is up to 100% more expensive for the company compared to having implemented its Exynos chips. Samsung tried to avoid this situation until the last minute, but it couldn’t solve the problems at its factories in time.

The Galaxy S25 devices will also feature a boost in terms of memory and storage. Unlike previous generations, all models will feature at least 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. This is necessary to smoothly handle all the Galaxy AI features. Plus, 12GB is already a fairly standard figure in the industry even among mid-rangers. Samsung is also said to offer variants of the Galaxy S25 Ultra with 16GB of RAM.

The other factor impacting the production price of the devices is the devaluation of the Korean currency against the dollar. The recent political instability in the country did not help things.

The report says Samsung wanted to keep the price the same as the last generation. However, after studying it in depth, the company determined that it was not possible to do so. It won’t be long before the official announcement of the brand’s new mobile flagships. The prices of the phones will probably leak before the first Unpacked event of the year.
