Summary: Total sales of the Galaxy S25 series during its first month of availability are up to three times higher than those of the predecessor Galaxy S24 series, with the Ultra model being the most popular. However, there are some factors to consider, in addition to the fact that the sales performance of the Galaxy S24 lineup was better after the preorder stage ended.
It appears that initial sales of the Galaxy S25 series are proving to be a resounding success for Samsung. The devices have been in stores for some weeks now, boasting Android 15-based One UI 7 out of the box as one of their biggest draws. Now, a report claims that sales of the Galaxy S25 during its first month exceeded the Galaxy S24 series by three times. However, it’s important to consider certain factors.
First-month sales of the Galaxy S25 series are three times higher than the Galaxy S24’s
According to a report by Hana Securities (via tipster Jukanlosreve), Samsung has sold approximately 4.56 million units of the Galaxy S25 series since its launch. The most sought-after variant is the Galaxy S25 Ultra with approximately 2.55 million sales. Next comes the base S25 model with 1.17 million. Lastly, the Galaxy S25 Plus accounted for approximately 840,000 units. Interestingly, the “Galaxy S Plus” models seem to be experiencing the same declining popularity phenomenon that Apple saw with the iPhone Plus variants.
Samsung is probably pleased with the sales of the Galaxy S25 series during its first month. For reference, the Galaxy S24 lineup sold around 1.42 million units during the same period last year. However, it’s noteworthy that the sales performance of the Galaxy S24 devices was notably better than that of their successors after the pre-order period closed.
Considering the sales figures after the pre-order period closed, the Galaxy S24 series achieved around 240,000 units. The Galaxy S25 series, on the other hand, has sold about 180,000 units.
Some circumstances to consider
There are a couple of key circumstances that could explain the increase in sales of the Galaxy S25 devices during its first month. First, there’s the difference in the launch schedule compared to the previous series. This, in turn, connects to the second factor: early discounts. Amazon is currently holding its Big Spring Sale with deep discounts on many products. For instance, the e-commerce giant knocked up to $254.99 off the price of Galaxy S25 devices.
Overall, Samsung sold a total of 19.03 million smartphones in February. This is 3% less than in January, but 15% more than in February 2024. Lastly, Samsung was already projecting to sell more Galaxy S25 units compared to the previous generation. According to reports, the company planned to produce 2 million additional phones compared to the Galaxy S24 series.
