In 2025, Samsung is expected to adopt a more aggressive launch strategy for its smartphones. The company is looking to make up for the lower-than-expected financial results in 2024 with more innovation and attractive products. According to reports, part of the strategy is to add a thinner Galaxy S25 Slim to the flagship lineup. A new report reveals the method Samsung will use to reduce the thickness of the camera module.
Samsung is not among the companies whose phones stand out for the thickness of their cameras. In the current Android industry, most brands are betting on flagship “camera phones” with large rear bumps to look more “pro.” Meanwhile, the South Korean giant opts for a cleaner and more minimalist approach. Still, the current rear camera setup of Samsung’s mobile flagships required slimming down to achieve a thinner device. The company found the solution in ALoP (All Lenses on Prism) tech.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim tipped to premiere the ALoP tech for thinner cameras
According to Jukanlosreve on X/Twitter, Samsung will implement ALoP tech on next year’s Galaxy S25 Slim. The company unveiled ALoP in November, claiming that it allows for the thickness of traditional periscope modules to be reduced by up to 22%. It uses a “40˚ tilted prism reflection surface and 10˚ tilted sensor assembly,” Samsung said during the announcement. The Galaxy S25 Slim could be the company’s first phone to implement it.
A previous leak claimed that the Galaxy S25 Slim will boast an “Ultra” camera. It’s unlikely to feature the exact same camera setup as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but we could see a 200MP main sensor. The Galaxy S25 Slim clearly seems like a direct response to the rumored iPhone 17 Air. However, Samsung wants to distance itself from Apple by keeping commitments to a minimum. iPhone 17 Air leaks claim that there will be some notable sacrifices. For instance, it could have only one rear camera sensor like the iPhone SE 4.
The date of the device’s release is still unclear
Regarding the launch of the Galaxy S25 Slim, there are conflicting rumors. Some sources claim that it will arrive alongside the Galaxy S25 series in January, while others claim that Samsung will only tease it for release months later. Hopefully, clearer information will emerge on this in the coming days.
