Samsung’s S Pen has been a defining feature of its high-end Galaxy phones since the original Galaxy Note launched in 2011. But in recent years the company has been giving it less attention, leading many to question its future.
While the newest Galaxy S25 Ultra still has an S Pen, Samsung removed Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) from it, meaning it lost the ability to perform Air Actions and remote control functions.
Although this change might not seem like a big deal, the way Samsung has been downplaying the S Pen has worried our contributor, Jon Mundy, that it might not be around for much longer.
Fortunately, we have good news: as TechRadar reports, Annika Bizon, Samsung’s VP of Product and Marketing for the UK, claims the S Pen is still an important part of the company’s vision, particularly for the Ultra series.

While AI advancements mean that some traditional S Pen features are no longer unique, Samsung still sees its stylus as a valuable tool, especially for creative users. Bizon pointed out that features like Sketch to Image, part of Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite, make the S Pen an even better tool for drawing and sketching.
While Samsung might not be shouting about it from the rooftops, we now know the S Pen will be part of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. But if you were hoping for the return of Bluetooth-powered remote controls and Air Actions, you might need to look elsewhere – Motorola’s upcoming Edge 60 Stylus might be one such alternative.
