Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra in the second half of last year. Now, the South Korean tech giant is planning to launch the successors to these devices in the form of the Galaxy Watch 8 series in the coming months. The company hasn’t yet officially revealed anything about its next-gen wearable offerings. However, a tipster has spotted the test firmware for the Galaxy Watch 8.
Test firmware suggests the Galaxy Watch 8 will come in Bluetooth and LTE variants
X user @theordysm has spotted the test firmware builds for the alleged Galaxy Watch 8 series smartwatches. The source suggests that the wearable will come in both Bluetooth and LTE connectivity-enabled variants. The model numbers SM-L320 and SM-L330 identify their Bluetooth variants, which correspond to the firmware builds L320XXU0AYC4 and L320OXM0AYC4, respectively.
Furthermore, the source suggests that the LTE variants of the Galaxy Watch 8 have the model numbers SM-L325U and SM-L335U, backed by the L325USQU0AYC6 and L325UOYM0AYC6 firmware builds. These hardly come as a surprise as the current Galaxy Watch 7 has model numbers SM-L310 and SM-L315.
The current Galaxy Watch 7 has model numbers SM-L310 and SM-L315. Samsung’s product model numbers follow a usual pattern, which suggests this leak regarding the Galaxy Watch 8 could be the real deal. Unfortunately, the source hasn’t revealed anything about the specifications of the upcoming Samsung smartwatches.
What do we know about Samsung’s next smartwatch so far?
Previous reports have suggested that Samsung could launch its next smartwatch in multiple models, like the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. Samsung may also launch a Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 variant this year as well, but there’s been no leak regarding it so far.
Last year’s Galaxy Watch 7 models brought a handful of meaningful upgrades. They have upgraded health tracking sensors, apart from advanced artificial intelligence-powered features for wellness tracking and sleep. Samsung could build more features based on the upgraded sensors of the previous-gen smartwatches.
That said, Samsung could launch the Galaxy Watch 8 series wearables alongside the new foldable smartphones that are due by July or August 2025.
