This year, Samsung hopes to shake things up a bit with its foldable phones. Don’t expect revolutionary improvements in terms of tech specs for the new devices. However, the foldable lineup is expected to receive new options, such as the Galaxy Z Flip FE or Samsung’s first tri-fold device, known as the Galaxy G. A new leak has revealed more details about the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s camera system.
If Samsung maintains its launch timeframe of recent years, the new models in the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series will arrive sometime in the second half of 2025. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be the next generation of the company’s classic book-like foldables. One of the complaints users have about the Fold devices is that they don’t include Samsung’s best camera system, even though they are quite expensive. Well, the upcoming model could take a step forward to solve this problem.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 could have a 200 MP main camera sensor, better under-display front camera
According to GalaxyClub, Samsung will integrate a 200 MP rear camera. This could help close the gap between the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy S Ultra phones. For reference, the latest three generations of Galaxy Z Fold handsets have integrated a 50 MP main sensor. So, they are closer to the vanilla and Plus Galaxy S models than to the “Ultras” in camera quality.
The source claims that the front camera hidden under the internal display of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will also have better quality. There are no more specific details regarding potential improvements to this sensor. However, you can expect more usable selfies and better image quality during video calls.
That said, all other rear cameras will be the same as those on the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The company’s current book-like foldable has a 12 MP ultra-wide sensor and a 10 MP telephoto sensor. The front-facing camera sensor integrated into the punch hole of the external display is also said to remain unchanged. Overall, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could offer a combination of the cameras from the vanilla/Plus Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It would be an improvement, although it would still not be the best that the company can offer.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to arrive alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 sometime in July. It is also possible that the company will announce the Galaxy Z Flip FE and its tri-fold phone.
