If someone asked you whether or not you could speedrun Final Fantasy VII Rebirth so quickly that it could be finished in under 10 hours, you might say no. However, that is exactly what one gamer is going to set out to do during Awesome Games Done Quick in January. Speedrunning video games is an activity that has been around for decades but no matter how many times things like these pop up, they’re still just as fascinating as ever. Because these sorts of accomplishments are impressive feats.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the PS5-exclusive second release in the remake of the original game from 1997, takes about 47 hours to complete the main storyline of the game. That’s according to How Long To Beat. That’s also without going through absolutely everything you could do in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth if you wanted to achieve 100% completion. Which these sorts of speedruns aren’t aiming to accomplish. Nevertheless, it doesn’t make it any less impressive.
The target or estimated time is 6 hours and 10 minutes. So the goal is to shave off around 41 hours of gameplay time. This will no doubt be challenging, but otherwise possible.
Twitch streamer Woadyb’s Final Fantasy VII Rebirth speedrun happens on January 10
If this sounds like something you’d like to watch, you’ll be able to check out Woadyb’s Twitch stream of the speedrun on January 10. The run is estimated to take 6 hours and 10 minutes, which is a huge chunk of time to sit down and watch someone play a video game. It’s a lot less time than it would take to watch a full playthrough at a normal pace though.
The stream begins at around 3:16 am according to the Awesome Games Done Quik 2025 schedule. So if you’re interested in seeing someone beat Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in a short period of time, you’ll need to be up pretty early.
