Google is expanding its Deep Research feature in Gemini to support over 45 languages. Now users of the Gemini Advanced AI tool can access the in-depth research mode in more languages. This is to make the AI research assistant available to a wider audience globally.
Deep Research in Gemini now supports over 45 languages
According to a post from Google Gemini App on X, Deep Research is now available in 45+ languages and more than 150 countries with Gemini Advanced. Supported languages include Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Danish, French, German, and more.
Deep Research uses advanced AI to fetch information from reliable sources. It can create a detailed report on complex topics by doing multiple searches and refining the results. The information is then presented in an easy-to-read format with links to the original sources. The tool saves hours of manual research by delivering a detailed report in minutes. This feature is currently available for Gemini Advanced users, but rolling it out to more languages means Google is committed to making it more accessible.
It’s worth noting that Google has faced challenges in training the AI to summarize information accurately in some languages. The company relies on clean and reliable data to train the model. Still, some issues with grammar and summaries are present in some languages.
Accessing Deep Research mode in Gemini
For now, Gemini users can access this feature on desktops or mobile web platforms by selecting the “Gemini 1.5 Pro” option. Google plans to add the Gemini mobile app support in early 2025.
To get started, go to gemini.google.com and select either “Gemini” or “Gemini Advanced,” then “1.5 Pro with Deep Research.” Enter your query or prompt into the box and click “Submit” and “Start research.” Gemini will create a custom research plan for you; you can edit it by clicking “Edit plan” before generating the report. Once done, just click “View report.” Report generation usually takes 5-10 minutes, but more complex topics may take longer.
You can leave the chat and a notification will pop up when the report is ready. To access previous research reports, make sure your Gemini Apps Activity is turned on. Note that there’s a daily limit on research requests and concurrent requests. If you’re close to the limit, Gemini will let you know how many requests you have left for the day.
