After a failed first attempt, Google has now resumed rolling out a big free software upgrade to its range of Pixel Watch wearables.
In particular, the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 are now getting updated to Wear OS 5, the latest operating system for smartwatches from Google.
The upgrade was paused back in September after users started experiencing blank screens.
“The rollout will continue over the next week in phases depending on carrier and device. Users will receive a notification on their watch once the software update becomes available for their device,” said Google in a community update.
The upgrade is now part of the November update which includes the Pixel Watch 3 but that device shipped with Wear OS 5 so is just getting security updates and bug fixes.
The Wear OS 5 firmware update for the Pixel Watch 1 and Pixel Watch 2 includes new features, bug fixes and performance updates as well as “Play Store updates for improved camera controls, and Pixel Recorder are also available.”
