While Google isn’t exactly known for offering great deals, every now and then they do throw in some that catch the eye. Over the weekend, the company kicked off an incredible deal that allowed Google Fi subscribers to get a free Pixel Watch 3 LTE, Google’s latest-gen smartwatch. However, to the surprise of many, the deal ended much earlier than initially announced.
A deal allowed Google Fi subscribers to get a free Pixel Watch 3 LTE, but it ended early
Google’s initial offer extended all the way to 2025. More specifically, interested Google Fi subscribers could claim the device until “January 7, 2025 at 9:59 AM PST or while supplies last.” Perhaps that caused many who might have been interested in the smartwatch to not claim it at the moment. Unfortunately for them, Google decided to end the deal much earlier by surprise. The news probably ruined the day for those who were hoping to get the wearable later.
The Google Fi deal to get the Pixel Watch 3 LTE for free was no longer available last night. Google even updated the terms and conditions page to reflect the change, likely before running it. “this promotion ended on 2024-11-19 18:10:00 PST,” the updated page now reads.
There’s no official word from Google on the reason for the early end of the deal. However, according to reports, it’s all due to massive demand from Google Fi subscribers. There were even orders with delivery dates set for late December. Considering the deal allowed you to get a high-end smartwatch for free, that situation was pretty much to be expected.
There were two ways to complete the “purchase”
Those lucky enough to be around while the deal was running had two ways to make the “purchase.” The first option was to pay the full price of the watch at checkout ($349.99) and then receive a full refund via 24 monthly credits. The alternative option, called Pay $0/mo for 24 months, said: “If purchased with device financing, the device payments will be discounted via 24 monthly credits equaling $349.99 in total value.”
