Google Quietly Restores Weather Map to Pixel Weather App After Mysterious Disappearance

Last week, it was noted that the Weather Map, or the radar, was missing from the Pixel Weather app. Everyone woke up one day, and it was just gone, completely missing. Well, many are reporting on r/GooglePixel that the Pixel Weather Map is back, which I can confirm is the case for my Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold too.

The Pixel Weather Map wasn’t available everywhere; essentially just the US, the UK, and most of Europe except for Italy and Luxembourg. It’s basically a 6-hour radar map that will show storms moving through the area, so you can easily see when a storm will pass through where you live or are planning to go.

It’s a very useful feature to have, especially if you’re on the road a lot. It’s unclear why Google removed it from the Pixel Weather App, but it is back now. So we can stop complaining about it. If you’re still not seeing the Weather Map, you may need to wait for your app to get the server-side update. There was no app update from the Play Store, as this is still on version 1.0.20250127.729684887.

Pixel Weather might be the best looking weather app around

Last year, Google redesigned the Pixel Weather app, which is part of the “At a Glance” widget, but only on Pixel devices. It’s now a much more material design looking app, and it’s aesthetically pleasing. It’s honestly one of my favorite weather apps out there.

It does a really good job of breaking down the weather by hour, as well as your 10-day forecast, among other weather aspects you might need to know. With this app, Google also added the AI Weather Report, which isn’t the most helpful, but it has been improving. It will tell you what you need to know about the weather. For instance, it tells me that it will stop raining in about 20 minutes, and that there will be a mix of snow and rain in today’s weather.
