Google started updating the Pixel Watch lineup with the Wear OS 5.1 update recently through the March 2025 patch. And it appears that it also brought along some bugs for the ride.
The /r/PixelWatch subreddit has been reporting that some Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Watch 3 owners have experienced delayed or missing notifications. And I can confirm the same thing is happening with my Pixel Watch 3. This appears to be the most common bug, while other bugs also exist. Including watch face editing causing crashes, and Fitbit syncing not being up to speed. Some have also experienced touchscreen freezes.
Some have tried a factory reset to see if that might fix the issue, to no avail. However, a restart of your Pixel Watch does provide a temporary reprieve from these issues. But it’s not a fix, or a workaround.
It could be months before Google fixes this
Google recently changed its update timeline for the Pixel Watch, which means it could be months before these issues are fixed. This is actually the first update the Pixel Watch has received since November 2024. This means we might not see these bugs fixed until the Pixel Watch 4 is available.
Hopefully, Google will push out an update sooner than that, with some fixes for these issues. As it does seem like a number of these issues are widespread this time around.
Google is no stranger to pushing out buggy software, though they have been getting better over the past few years. Particularly with the Pixel 9 series, which still had their own fair share of bugs, but it was far fewer than previous Pixel devices. Though nothing really compares to the Pixel 6 series and their bugs. That was a rough one. Fingers crossed that Google can fix these issues with an update in the coming weeks, so we don’t have to wait months for a fix.
