GTA 6 screenshot allegedly spotted at Rockstar with a PS5 dev kit

GTA 6 is still a long way off so there’s still next to nothing of substance known about the game, but a recent leak seems to show what is allegedly a screenshot of it. Potentially giving the public their first (unofficial) look at actual gameplay outside of the trailer.

Rockstar has officially announced GTA 6 as of 2023, fully revealing the game’s existence more than a year ago. The teaser trailer was mostly cinematic footage though, or perhaps all cinematic footage. It’s tough to tell with how good the graphics in games have gotten these days. If it was all cinematic footage, the alleged screenshot leak may be the first actual look at how in-game graphics look when playing.

That being said, the screenshot is not necessarily high-quality. It’s good enough to make out the main character who appears to be Lucia. There is only a single screenshot, however, and you can only see the back of the character. So there’s no hope of confirming if it’s Lucia based on the facial design.

The GTA 6 screenshot leak was pictured next to a PS5 dev kit

The leak, which was posted by GTA 6 News on X, shows more than just the screenshot. It also shows pictures of a PS5 dev kit unit, which seems to be what the game is being tested on during development. This makes sense given the game will coming out for PS5. The dev kit doesn’t really provide any more detail to the screenshot, but it at the very least shows the game is still in development for PS5.

It’s worth noting that as with any leak, this one should be taken with a grain of salt. It can’t be confirmed that the studio in the picture is Rockstar. It also can’t be confirmed that the screenshot is of GTA 6. That being said, it sure looks like it could be. The dev kit also suggests that since this is what appears to be a studio setting, whatever the game is, it’s probably a work in progress. Just like GTA 6. You can also see the word “preview” in the bottom right corner, hinting that this is a development build of the game.

The game will be worth the wait

It’s probably going to be several months before GTA 6 arrives for PS5 and Xbox Series X. This leak, if legitimate, really only fuels the excitement for fans of the franchise. The game will be “worth the wait” though.

Last month, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in an interview that the game will be worth the wait. He also says he thinks the game is extraordinary. With all the hype surrounding the trailer from 2023, and Zelnick’s comments in addition to the leaks, it’s a safe bet that GTA 6 will be another smash hit for Rockstar and Take-Two. Of course, it could bomb. That doesn’t seem very likely though.
