Not too long ago, we got the news that the Fitbit platform was going the way of the dinosaur. Users were urged to move their data over from the Fitbit app to their Google account if they didn’t want to lose their data. Originally, that data was supposed to happen this year. However, Google seems to have extended the deadline to migrate your Fitbit data to 2026.
When Google launched its first Pixel Watch back in 2022, everyone turned their heads over to Fitbit, wondering if it was the end. At that point, it didn’t seem like Google was going to wipe Fitbit from the map… but then Google started wiping Fitbit from the map. Last year, the company stopped making new Fitbit watches. This, along with the fact that it’s shutting down the Fitbit app, means that Google has no need for the brand.
It’s a pity for people who like the brand and don’t want to shell out for a Pixel Watch. Be that as it may, there are plenty of alternatives out there. For example, RePebble just debuted two new watches. These are the spiritual successors to the Pebble 2 watches.
The deadline to move from Fitbit has been extended
The process of moving your data over to a Google account shouldn’t be all that difficult. So, if you haven’t already, we recommend that you do so before the deadline comes. On Friday, Google sent out an email saying that users have until February 2026 to move over their data before it’s gone forever. That’s just under a year from now.
To move over your data, you’ll need an active Google account. Go to the app and head over to the settings. There, you’ll see the Move Account button.
Once you choose the Google account you want to use, you’ll then want to review your personal data to make sure that everything is correct. After that, you’ll read through all of the terms and services and accept them.
After that, Google will go through and migrate your data. Don’t hesitate to move your data over. If you need help, you can go to the official support page.
