It seems like HONOR is getting on board with more compact devices. According to a new rumor, HONOR is planning to launch a ‘Pro Mini’ smartphone later this year.
The information comes from Digital Chat Station, one of the best-known tipsters out there. He does say that this phone is coming towards the end of the year, so it will likely be a part of the HONOR Magic8 lineup.

The tipster also used the ‘Pro Mini’ name in his post on Weibo, so we’re guessing that the name of the phone will be the HONOR Magic8 Pro Mini. If we had to guess, we’d say it will arrive with the HONOR Magic8 and Magic8 Pro handsets.
He did not specifically mention HONOR in his post, in all honesty, but he did say “another top 5 company”, meaning top 5 from the Chinese market. Huawei, HONOR, OPPO, Xiaomi, and Vivo are the top dogs in China. Vivo and Xiaomi already have such a device, while OPPO will release one soon.
That leaves us with Huawei and HONOR. Huawei never expressed interest in doing something like this, while some rumors have pointed in HONOR’s direction in the past. So the tipster most probably had HONOR in mind.
HONOR announced a global variant of its new flagship earlier today
HONOR actually announced a global variant of the Magic7 Pro handset earlier today. It follows the phone’s launch in China at the end of October. The global model is very similar, but it has a notably smaller battery for whatever reason.
All high-end phones that HONOR has to offer, regardless of the market, are large. The same was the case last year too. So if we had to guess, we’d say that this new phone will have a 6.3-inch display, like the competition, or at least something close to it. It may even be a bit smaller than that.
Based on HONOR’s past choices, this handset could be fueled by the next-gen Snapdragon flagship, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, or whichever name HONOR opts for.
