Huawei has a 1TB SSD for less than $40!

We mostly know Huawei as the smartphone maker with the tri-folding phone. However, it’s a major tech brand that builds all sorts of electronic devices, and this includes SSDs. It didn’t make drives for the average users until this year with the eKitStore Extreme 200E line. Well, the company introduced the 1TB variant of the eKitStore Extreme 200E, and this costs a shocking $32.

What does the Huawei eKitStore Extreme 200E have to offer?

Since this is a line of SSDs, there are different variants with different capacities. The lowest capacity is 512GB while the largest is the 4TB version. When it comes to their specs, these devices are using the older PCle 4.0 standard, so their transfer speeds are capped at 7,400MB/s (read) and 6.700MB/s (write). Still, those are some good speeds. The speeds may vary depending on the model.

A person looking to store some serious files would want to pick up an SSD with at least 1TB of storage, so the price of 47,500 South Korean Won would make anyone’s mouth water. This price translates to about $32. There are computer mice that cost more than that! As you can tell, this price undercuts the mass majority of the market.

The only thing is that we don’t know the read/write speeds of this 1TB model, and we don’t really know much more information about its internals. Since Huawei is under some tight sanctions, we know that the tech powering this SSD didn’t come from the U.S.A. So, Huawei most likely needed to source everything domestically.

We’re not sure if that will have an effect on the quality of the SSD as a whole. All we know is that the company is still making strides in the tech industry even with its hands tied behind its back.

Alternative?

As you can guess, you won’t be able to pick the Huawei eKitStore Extreme 200E up at your local Walmart. Huawei is selling this SSD in China exclusively for the time being. If you’re not in China, but you need to store your files on a budget, why not check out the TEAMGROUP AX2?

This SSD is on the lower end, but it’s good for the basics. At the time of writing this piece, it’s currently on sale for $46.99.
