Huawei is gearing up for a big event this Thursday, and it sounds like we’re about to see an exciting addition to the foldable phone category. The company has scheduled its Pura Pioneer Festival for March 20, where it’s expected to announce at least one new smartphone, along with details on HarmonyOS Next.
One of the most talked-about devices rumoured to be unveiled is a flip foldable with an interesting twist. Digital Chat Station suggests the phone will feature a 6.28-inch inner folding screen with a 3:2 aspect ratio, a 3.48-inch cover display, a 50Mp main camera, and some level of water- and dust-resistance, with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Huawei’s teaser video hints at a rollable screen that expands sideways, and the mention of “1610” could mean a 16:10 aspect ratio when fully expanded, making it more tablet-like than other flip phones.
Huawei CEO Richard Yu has been teasing this unreleased product via Weibo, referring to it as an “unexpected product” launch and the first phone to run HarmonyOS Next.
Yu was also recently spotted using an unconfirmed device in a social media video, adding to speculation about the imminent announcement. This could be the Pocket 3 but Yu has not confirmed the name, leading some to believe it could alternatively fall under the new Pura series.
Alongside this new foldable, Huawei is expected to introduce updates to its Celia voice assistant, which integrates DeepSeek. The AI was previously confirmed to be powered by a Huawei chip.
