Huawei's second tri-fold smartphone coming mid-2026: Rumor

Huawei managed to get a lot of attention when it showed off the world’s first tri-fold smartphone. Its name is the Huawei Mate XT, and we’ve managed to get some hands-on time with it. With that being said, the second tri-fold smartphone from Huawei is tipped to arrive mid-2026.

The second-gen Huawei tri-fold smartphone could launch mid-2026

This information comes from Fixed Focus Digital, a Chinese tipster. He claims that the device will most likely arrive mid-2026, but there’s a chance it will launch by the end of this year.

The tipster believes that the launch event will be pushed to 2026. He says that Huawei already has plenty of products planned for 2025, so… that’s the most probable outcome.

Either way, he doesn’t think we’ll get major upgrades with the second-gen model. He predicts smaller imaging and general power upgrades to the device. It remains to be seen how accurate that is.

If we had to guess, we’d say that Huawei will stick with the Z-fold approach to design. In other words, it will not switch over to the G-fold type foldable or anything like that. The company is expected to stick with one display only.

Samsung is expected to announce its first tri-fold handset in the near future

As many of you know by now, Samsung is expected to do the opposite. The company’s first foldable will allegedly include two displays and be a G-type tri-fold smartphone. That way, it will offer more protection for the main display.

The global variant of the Huawei Mate XT was launched not long ago. So it is not only the world’s first tri-fold smartphone, but the world’s first tri-fold that made it to markets outside of China.

The device is very expensive at €3,499, though, so we’re hoping that Huawei will work on bringing the price of the second-gen model down. We’re not sure it will happen, but… we can dream.
