A HUGE car fire has closed a major road sparking chaos for thousands of drivers.
Black smoke was spotted pouring out of the charred vehicle this morning as emergency services rushed to help.
After the blaze broke out on Nottinghamshire road, the A52 road was closed in both directions.
Firefighters raced to tackle the fire and arrived at the scene at around 10.31am after a white car went up in smoke.
The road between Saxondale Drive and Bingham Interchange was blocked for more than an hour as they responded.
No injuries have been reported and drivers have been warned to plan ahead due to traffic.
A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We have one crew from London Road dealing with a vehicle fire on Grantham Road in Saxondale.
“The call was received at 10:31 this morning (30 April). There are no reports of any injuries.”
Real-time traffic data analysis tool Inrix said: “It stated: “A52 in both directions closed, slow traffic due to car fire from Saxondale Drive (Radcliffe on Trent) to Bingham Interchange (Saxondale).”
A bus driver shared on X that his route had been affected by the incident, writing: “A car fire on the A52 between Radcliffe and Saxondale & the Police have shut the road.
“Due to this, the mainline will need to divert between Saxondale Drive & Henson Lane, missing the stops in both directions: Henson Lane Saxondale Island.”
