I Tried Infinix's Color-Shifting Smartphone Technology

Another concept that Infinix brought to MWC this year is something they’ve shown off before, and that’s the E-Color Shift 2.0. Essentially, the backplate of the phone can change between different colors and patterns and even use AI to match a picture, your wallpaper, your surroundings, or the weather. It’s very interesting and actually super easy to switch up the style of your phone. It takes just a few seconds to generate a new look, however ,it does need a WiFi connection for this to work.

If you’d rather stick with just a pattern and a set of colors, that’s an option too. Infinix has six different patterns and six color palettes from which you can choose. The colors are still rather limited, though I’d expect that to change in the future.

Unfortunately, it’s not the entire back of the phone, and there are some pretty big white bezels around the color-changing portion of the backplate. Infinix also says that this back panel uses very little power, so you won’t need to worry about it using up all of your battery.

This concept is based on Infinix’s Zero 40 smartphone

Infinix used its Zero 40 smartphone as the base for this concept, which was announced last August. It sports a 6.78-inch curved display and also has a curved back, which helps make it seem thinner than it actually is. Inside is the MediaTek Dimensity 8200, with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. There’s also a pretty large, 5,000mAh capacity battery in a body that is only 7.9mm thick.

This E-Color Shift 2.0 tech is not quite ready for a mainstream device, but Infinix believes that it will be ready pretty soon. This concept brings the technology a step closer to mainstream adoption. It is also a really good way to help differentiate your phone from everyone else’s since there are so many unique patterns and colors that you can use on this backplate.
