A popular motoring personality has taken to TikTok to compare an incredibly affordable electric vehicle to the powerful and refined BMW 7 Series.

Mat Watson is a car reviewer who makes videos for the online vehicle retail platform Carwow, sharing his thoughts on the latest models and helping viewers get a reliable used car.

In a popular video, Mat compares some of the most interesting features on the Citroen Ami Buggy, a special edition of the tiny electric quadricycle, stating that some elements of it are better than a BMW.

He explained: “Number one, there is no faffing around in the boot with the Ami Buggy, just use the built-in luggage compartment in front of the passenger seat.”

In the video, Mat shows viewers that the latest BMW 7 Series has a rather high lip on the boot, making it difficult to add or remove heavy or bulky items from the car.

In comparison, the Citroen Ami does not feature a conventional boot, instead featuring areas in front of the passenger seat and behind the driver’s seat that can be used to carry small items.

Some models also feature a small plastic hook in the middle of the dashboard, which can be used for carrying a handbag or jacket.

Despite having a top speed that is limited to just 28mph, Mat also noted that the Citroen Ami Buggy has a lot of sporty touches for such a small and cheap model.

“Number two, the Ami takes Porsche GT3 levels of weight-saving to another level, by not only having similar fabric door handles, but also state-of-the-art lightweight doors,” Mat stated.

“Finally, unlike the puny lip spoiler you get on the BMW, you get a proper wing on the back of the Ami Buggy. Hopefully that provides some much-needed downforce.”

Launched in February 2020, the Citroen Ami is currently the cheapest all-electric four-wheeled vehicle, with prices starting at £7,695.

Officially classified as a quadricycle, the Ami can only travel at speeds of up to 28mph and a fairly minimal range of 47 miles per charge, making it only useful in large towns and cities.

Nevertheless, the small model has been a big success for the brand, with Citroen launching special editions and trim levels, including the rugged Buggy and high-end Pop.
