Apple is months away from launching the iPhone 17 series, but that hasn’t stopped leaks and rumors from flowing in. Now, Weibo tipster Instant Digital has shared some information regarding the potential presence of proper reverse wireless charging on the iPhone 17 Pro models.
Apple has reportedly tested reverse wireless charging for the iPhone 17 Pro models
According to the tipster, Apple has tested 7.5W reverse wireless charging for the iPhone 17 Pro models. For those unaware, this feature allows charging other Apple accessories, including AirPods, Apple Watch, and more, attaching them to the back of an iPhone.
This is not the first time Apple has thought about introducing proper reverse wireless charging for iPhones. However, the company has not taken the step beyond adding support for the Apple MagSafe battery pack. Although there were rumors that fully functional reverse wireless charging would make it to the iPhone 14 lineup, that never happened.
To this date, Apple hasn’t implemented the highly requested charging feature after discontinuing the MagSafe Battery Back in 2023. Although the iPhone 15 and new models can use the USB-C port to reverse charge the Apple Watch and AirPods at up to 4.5 watts, there’s no way you can use the iPhone’s wireless reverse charge on them. We can only hope that Apple doesn’t disappoint us this time around.
Recent leaks and rumors related to the iPhone 17 lineup
Speaking of leaks, a reliable tipster recently shared a set of renders revealing the design of the iPhone 17 Pro’s camera bar. A report quickly followed that leak, claiming that the upcoming Pro models could ditch titanium frames in favor of aluminum.
Not to forget, another model from the iPhone 17 family has constantly popped up in recent leaks. We are talking about the iPhone 17 Air, whose design was leaked a few days back. Some previous reports also claim that the device could come with eSIM only and could be really thin.
