Apple may finally be introducing an iPhone 17 Ultra this year, reviving a long-standing rumor that previously surfaced before the launches of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series. According to a new report, the iPhone 17 Ultra will replace the Pro Max, marking a significant shift in Apple’s flagship lineup.
iPhone 17 Ultra Incoming?
A Naver blog report citing supply chain analysis suggests that Apple is planning major hardware upgrades for the Ultra model, including:
- Smaller Dynamic Island – A redesign that could improve screen real estate.
- Vapor Chamber Cooling System – Exclusive to the Ultra for better heat management.
- Larger Battery – Expected to surpass last year’s Pro Max, making the device slightly thicker.
Apple has already introduced the Ultra branding with the Apple Watch Ultra and M3 Ultra chip, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see an iPhone Ultra as well. The introduction of an Ultra model could also justify a higher price point, allowing Apple to boost profit margins.

Pokdepinion: This was previously rumored before in previous years so we wouldn’t be surprised if it never materializes. With that being said, the Ultra moniker does exude more strength than the Pro Max, but the latter is uniquely Apple, so there’s a bit of a trade-off from what I can see.
