With an original MSRP north of $400,000, a 2009 Mercedes-Benz Maybach 62 isn’t exactly a cheap ride. That’s why the promise of being able to get one for a steal, even all these years later, might be incredibly tempting to some. We found one example that’s listed online for just $38,500 but we’ll let you decide if it’s a steal or not.

Posted on Facebook Marketplace in Pasadena, California, this 15-year-old ultra-luxury sedan has seen better days. Right away you’ll notice the obvious: it’s been in quite the accident. The seller addresses this issue, saying it “turns on” and that no insurance claim was filed.
In other words, the Maybach has a clean title. But you can see from the photos the car itself isn’t so clean. There’s collision damage on the passenger-side front corner, including the headlight, bumper cover, and fender.
More collision damage is present down the driver’s side of the sedan. That’s especially true in the rare quarter panel, which is smashed in so far the rear tire is almost completely visible.
There’s more damage, but to sum up what our main concern would be, we’d be wanting to inspect for frame damage. Everyone will have their opinion about how to do that and how much it matters. Perhaps if you’re just looking for a parts car or want to do to this Maybach what Kanye West did to his in a music video back in the day.
This is the extended wheelbase version with carbon-fiber trim for the interior, so that’s nice.
But is this a fair price considering the damage? There’s supposedly about 72,000 miles on the odometer and the interior looks to be in pretty good condition. But the body needs serious work and we don’t know about the mechanicals or if this can even be driven in its current state, just that it fires up.
We also don’t know some key details about the spec of this Maybach 62, namely if it has the 5.5-liter or 6.0-liter V12 engine. That does affect the value. However, this isn’t like a normal used car sales situation, although someone might be primarily interested in the powertrain from this vehicle.
