I’ve dug 15ft trench under my unassuming semi’s drive with network of hidden tunnels to store my iconic £50k DeLorean

A WHACKY inventor has dug a 15ft trench with a network of tunnels under his drive to store his iconic DeLorean.

The crazy compound is more than worthy of Doc Brown and has been dubbed the “biggest DIY project” in the UK.

Renowned tinkerer Colin Furze is documenting the construction of his “secret garage” on his popular YouTube channel.

Petrolheads may be familiar with Colin as the creator of the world’s fastest mobility scooter, which can top 70mph.

But the Lincolnshire native is always looking for his next project and has found inspiration in a massive home renovation.

Over the past few months, he has excavated a 15ft deep trench under the driveway of his unassuming suburban semi.

In true Colin style, this was to access the network of reinforced steel tunnels which already run under his property.

His plan is to install a vast garage underneath street level where he can store his DeLorean DMC-12, which is almost identical to the one used for Back to the Future.

I’m sick of the sight of limestone

Colin explained: “I’m building an underground garage linked to the tunnels that go into my house so my DeLorean can rise up out of the ground.

“There is no going back.

“This is the grand plan people.

“We can all agree that this is going to be the best thing that’s ever happened to a three-bed semi-detached.”

Iconic 80s car once bought by Mike Brewer for under £10k now be worth MUCH more

The fancy showroom will feature a lift mechanism which will allow the DeLorean to roll onto the drive before being lowered into the parking bay below.

It will then be placed on a turntable which will rotate it so it’s the right way around when it comes back up onto the driveway and can simply set off.

All this will be electronically controlled and should end up looking like something straight out of a Bond film.

Amazingly, Colin has been doing most of the work himself and plans to get it finished within months, weather permitting.

He chuckled: “There is a lot of work, but it will be well worth it in the end.

“I want to try and get it done this year.

“But I’m going to take a couple of weeks off it because after three or four months working on it I’m sick of the sight of limestone.”
