Jetour begins vehicle assembly in Indonesia – just-auto.com

Jetour, the upmarket SUV and crossover vehicle brand owned by Chinese automaker Chery Holding Group, started vehicle assembly in Indonesia this week – as the company stepped up its expansion into overseas markets. Jetour began assembling its Dashing and Jetour X70 Plus SUVs for the local market at a plant in Bekasi, near the capital city Jakarta, owned by local partner PT Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM).

Jetour’s newly established local distributor, PT Jetour Motor Indonesia (JMI), imports knocked-down kits from China, which are expected to go on sales locally in November. HIM also assembles internal combustion engine (ICE) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs) from kits supplied by Chery Automobile, including its Tiggo and Omoda models, as well as Neta BEVs.

At a ceremony held at the Bekasi assembly plant this week to celebrate the launch of local production, JMI’s CEO Jacky Yang, confirmed that the Chinese automaker is committed to delivering high-quality products to the Indonesian market, adding: “We are confident the Jetour Dashing and Jetour X70 Plus will be welcomed by Indonesian consumers.”
