Job’s Mob keeps switching Apple Intelligence back on – Fudzilla

It seems the intelligent thing to do

The Fruity Cargo Cult Apple has once again decided it knows better than its users. With its latest iOS 18.3.2 update, it’s quietly forcing Apple Intelligence back on—even if Apple fanboys told it to sod off.

Despite users explicitly opting out of Apple’s Intelligence, Jobs’ Mob flipped the switch right back on after updates. The whole charade comes with a cheery little splash screen after installation. Your choices? “Continue” or… well, there aren’t any other choices.

It’s a classic bit of Cupertino coercion and the kind of UX design that screams, “We’re not a cult, but here’s your robe.”

If you don’t fancy sacrificing up to 7GB of your expensive to local AI models you never asked for and are really bad,  you’ll have to trudge into Settings, dig through the Apple Intelligence section, and manually toggle the thing off again.

That is, of course, until the next update re-enables it like an overeager Jobsovah’s Witness at your digital doorstep waiting to tell you how Steve died to save you.

This isn’t a one-off blunder. Job’s Mob pulled the same stunt with iOS 18.3.1, brushed off the backlash, and then doubled down with the next patch.

Users across iPhone, iPad, and macOS have all been caught in this AI gaslighting loop, which is starting to feel less like a bug and more like a design feature cooked up hoping that users would start using Apple’s terrible AI.

The message is clear: *you* may own the device, but Apple still decide what runs on it. After all, nothing says “personal computing” like having to fight your operating system just to keep it from babysitting you with AI.

If the comment section of MacRumours is anything to go by, Apple fanboys are starting to get rather miffed at this sort of thing and are even resorting to sarcasm and real humour – something which has been lacking from Apple fanzines for decades.

“I just updated and now AI is back on after I turned it off AND I’ve got U2s entire catalogue in my music library. What is going on with this update!?

“Please, please, please, use our Apple Intelligence. We’re begging you.”

“Siri, turn off Apple Intelligence. I’m afraid I can’t do that, Dave.”

“Next thing you know they will turn on Apple Care, Apple One, iCloud+ subscriptions, because as some MacRumors users here like to insist, Apple knows best, and they just want to give you the best experience.”

“You will become one with Apple Intelligence. Resistance is futile.”
