Kia unveils latest concept car with 'nifty' features – but drivers notice odd similarity to competitor's vehicle – The US Sun

KIA’S newest car has led some drivers to raise their eyebrows at the sneakily similar design.

The new concept car has quirky new features like portable speakers, a front bench seat, and text message displays.

Kia Concept EV2 is a broad-looking car that might be too small to sell in the United States, according to Car and Driver.

The Kia Concept seems to be modeled after the Hyundai Inster, a compact electric vehicle with a dramatic look.

Going off of Inster statistics, Car and Driver believes the new Kia model will have 113 horsepower and 108 pound-feet of torque.

That translates to a mere 187 miles of range.

In comparison, more popular electric vehicles like the Tesla Model S have over 400 miles of range.

The car’s interior has “nifty features abound, such as the sliding front bench seat, portable speakers, and text messages that can be displayed through the windows,” as stated by Car and Driver.

The Kia Concept EV2’s triangular speakers can be removed and used on the go.

The car also has a fun text message feature that allows passengers to display texts across the car’s windows.

However, it is missing a center pillar and rear-hinged back doors which the older Kia models have.

Car and Driver speculates that those design choices will not make it to production.

The Kia Concept features a front bench that can slide backward as well as rear seats that fold out of the way.

Consumers ran to social media to slam Kia’s new concept, with many saying the automaker couldn’t achieve the look of a Renault.

“Feel like it’s aimed at Renault 4 with the SUV look,” one X user said.

“Yep and it looks like all of the others. Yet another SUV,” another tweeted.

Do Kia designers just give up when they get to the rear of their cars? That’s the second one you’ve announced today and both look terrible.

Drivers are not thrilled with the design of the new Kia model, calling it “ugly” and “hideous.”

“Do Kia designers just give up when they get to the rear of their cars?” one X user asked.

“That’s the second one you’ve announced today and both look terrible,” they added.

“The Renault 5 is in a different league compared to this. Kia are making so many oversized cars, they’re not nice,” another echoed.

The Renault 5 is considered to be a stylish and compact city car with a fun driving experience at an affordable price point.

Kia did not immediately reply to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
