LEWISTON (WGME) – A parking ban has been issued for Lewiston Thursday night.
During the last snowstorm, many residents had trouble with the city parking ban. One-hundred-eighty-nine parking tickets were issued and 35 cars were towed.
“When we issue a parking ban, we consider a number of factors, including the recent revel report, upcoming weather reports and of course, notifying the public in well enough time,” Lewiston Communications Director Angelynne Amores said.
Officials have called for a parking ban for the city of Lewiston for Thursday’s storm.
The ban runs from 6 p.m. Thursday through 5 a.m. Friday.
“It is super important that all vehicles are removed from all city streets because our public works team, they’re out in force,” Amores said. “So, when they’re removing the snow, they want to make sure they can come down the street.”
The city spokesperson mentioned that Lewiston generally issues a parking ban when there are at least four inches of snow forecasted.
There are five city garages available for those who need a spot. This is free on weeknights from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
