The smart home segment has evolved a lot in recent years. It’s no longer enough for IoT devices to work well, but also to integrate seamlessly into your home’s interior with cutting-edge designs. Buyers are also looking for these devices to be multipurpose and potentially innovative. Well, LG is leveraging all of its industry experience with an indoor gardening appliance that it will announce at CES 2025.
The indoor gardening appliance is LG’s next big smart home innovation
LG’s upcoming product ticks all of the above checks. It combines two seemingly disparate worlds of indoor lighting and gardening, adding some “smart” magic to make things easier for you. Basically, the company’s indoor gardening appliance seeks to enable you to grow decorative or fruit plants inside your home while maintaining cozy lighting.
LG seems to have designed the indoor gardening appliance especially with those people who don’t have a backyard, or at least a terrace, in mind. You can set it up in a room with enough space without worrying about the plants’ access to sunlight. There’s a circular screen that emits lighting from both sides. The inner side has up to five brightness intensities for your crops. Meanwhile, the outer side is responsible for setting the “mood” of the room with cozy lighting according to your tastes.
Remembering to water your plants on time won’t be a concern with the product either. It integrates a 1.5-gallon tank capable of dispersing the amount required by your crops whenever you need it.
The South Korean firm will offer the innovative product in more than one size. There will even be an option for those who want to have it in a compact format with the approximate height of an armchair. That said, the tallest model can hold up to 20 plants at a time, the company claims. Although there are several base sizes, the height of the indoor gardening appliance also offers some range of adjustment.
Smart features on board too
Of course, we’re talking about a smart home product from the ThinQ series. That means it will be compatible with the ThinQ app to set multiple parameters. You can adjust lighting and watering levels and schedules, for example.
There are no details yet on the availability and price of LG’s indoor gardening appliance, but the company will reveal everything during CES 2025.
