I don’t particularly think that people crave phones that are much slimmer than the ones we already have unless you’re talking about foldables. But what I think doesn’t seem to matter, as 2025 seems to be a year that will have OEMs shake things up to introduce “Slim” models.
It’s rumored that Apple will release an iPhone 17 Slim late next year, but more importantly, we also know that Samsung has a Galaxy S25 Slim in the works. There’s not too much known about the device beyond a little about its camera setup and its relative launch date, so let’s talk about those.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim Will Launch Sometime After The S25 Family
This year, Samsung switched up the way it does things with the Galaxy Z Fold series, introducing the first secondary device in the lineup for the first time since its inception. The Z Fold Special Edition launched a few weeks ago, though it is limited to only a few Chinese markets, though it comes with a different build and some different hardware. However, quite notable was the fact that it launched much later than main devices.
Something similar is about to happen with the S25 family. According to Max Jambor on X, Samsung will be launching a new S25 Slim smartphone, and it won’t be launching with the rest of the lineup, though the device already “exists behind closed doors”.
The name is pretty self-explanatory, so I’d assume that the selling point of the phone is that it is meant to be a lot thinner than the regular S25 model. For reference, the Galaxy S24 was 7.6mm thin and the S25 is likely to match that. Perhaps a 6mm device then? For now, we can only guess. However, I’m not sure how much of a craving there is from the general populace for such a phone.
An “Ultra” Camera Will Be Another Selling Point For The Galaxy S25 Slim
If the only real reason for getting the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim was to have a phone that’s so slim it’ll be easier to snap in half, I don’t think many people would be lining up for it. However, it’s clear that Samsung has chosen to put more into the package to entice buyers—again, quite like the Z Fold Special Edition that has an upgraded camera.
Things are similar since an upgraded camera is one category that has been tipped for a likely improvement over the non-Ultra models in the S25 lineup. Ice Universe has confirmed this fact, and considering his track record with Samsung, there’s little reason to doubt. That could mean the primary camera on the slim model will be a 200MP unit. That’s a lot of hardware to fit in a slim device, but they did it with the Z Fold SE.
Besides that, there’s little known about the upcoming device, but as things always go, we can be sure that we’ll hear more and more about the S25 Slim as its launch date gets closer.
