Man sentenced on child porn charges worked in school district's transportation department – WRGB

NISKAYUNA, N.Y. (WRGB) — A former Niskayuna Central School District transportation department employee has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for receiving child pornography.

Aaron Griesche, who was arrested in April 2022, will also face 10 years of supervised release following his prison term.

After first being reported by our media partners at the Daily Gazette, The Niskayuna Central School District confirmed to CBS6 that Griesche was employed in their transportation department from February 2019 until his arrest, at which point he was terminated.

A district spokesperson said, “Whenever we’re made aware of an employee’s arrest or conviction, there are safeguards in place which were followed in this case.”

Griesche will be required to register as a sex offender.

Here is the full statement CBS6 received from the school district:

“Aaron Griesche was employed by Niskayuna Central School District from Feb. 20, 2019, through April 15, 2022, when he was terminated. He had been employed in our transportation department.

Public school districts are notified by the State Education Department anytime an individual cleared for school employment is arrested and our HR office promptly follows up on all such reports.

We have robust employee screening and background checks in place at the time new employees are hired. We also have systems in place to mitigate harm to our school community when an employee is accused of or convicted of a crime. When the district is made aware of an arrest or conviction, there are standard procedural safeguards we implement to protect our community. We can verify those procedures were followed in this instance.

As always, our primary focus is to ensure the safety and security of the Niskayuna school community.”
