Man stumbles on car graveyard with classic muscle vehicles left to rot for 15 yrs – he found big surprise in backyard – The US Sun

A POPULAR explorer recently stumbled across an incredible collection of abandoned muscle cars deep in the woods in Georgia.

Leland Kent, a known photographer and blogger, showed off a fleet of valuable vehicles, including a Packard, a Cadillac sedan, and multiple Buicks, on a property that’s likely been deserted for some 15 years.

The large home, located on a seven-acre space of forested land, also contains an odd collection of vintage furniture and other objects inside, including an abandoned TV from the 1950s and empty coke bottles from the 1960s scattered in the kitchen.

Leland said in his blog: “The former home of an antique car collector sits deep in the woods of rural Georgia.

“According to property records, the home dates to the early 20th century, although it appears it could be much older.

“It has a unique layout with attached rooms rather than a central hallway.

“In the kitchen, there is a calendar dated 2008 that gives some indication of when the house was last occupied.

“In the small, detached garage behind the house are a Packard and Cadillac sedan, as well as several old Buicks.”

One of the cars discovered by Kent was a 1947 Buick Roadmaster, which was considered a premium model of the time.

But sadly, the iconic set of wheels is in a very dilapidated state, meaning it would prove a challenge to restore.

According to Love Property, who featured the abandoned site, the Roadmaster was a top-tier vehicle targeted at soldiers returning from the war, and they quickly gained popularity.

Buick sold nearly 19,000 units in 1946, perhaps proving the economic boom the US experienced following the war as a large number of people sought a vehicle that oozed comfort and luxury.

Another Buick Roadmaster laid abandoned on the property, from 1949, as well as a dusty and moldy Cadillac Coupe DeVille from 1958, sitting next to a newer model from 1962.

Nestled in with the Cadillacs was a particularly rare Packard Patrician 400 from 1952 – one of only 3,975 models ever made from that model year.

Little-known Packard was a luxury American car brand based in Detroit, Michigan and founded in 1899.

After World War II Packard struggled to survive against the Big Three; General Motors, Ford and Chrysler and ended its production in 1962.

But the rarest abandoned vehicle, pinned underneath a collapsed part of the garage that was a victim of rot, was a 1939 Buick Limited.

Limited by name, limited by nature, as only 1,451 units were ever produced.

Kent was unable to find out who currently owns the land and whether there were any plans for it, or if any of the cars were eligible for restoration.
