Summary: Some Google Pixel users have started experiencing major issues following Google’s March 2025 update. The Pixel 7, Pixel 8, and Pixel 9 users are having problems with abrupt brightness drops, audio issues when EQ is enabled, and unusually strong vibrations. There’s a temporary fix for the brightness drops, but no fixes for other problems. Google has already acknowledged some of them.
Google has started rolling out its March update recently, and it seems like it brought major issues to some Pixel phones. Phones from the Pixel 7, Pixel 8, and Pixel 9 series have all been reported to experience these issues.
Some Google Pixel phones are experiencing major issues following March update
Bug reports have started popping up not long after the rollout started. The Google Pixel subreddit is full of them, as plenty of them appeared over the weekend. Some users reported a “random brightness drop” while watching videos on the Pixel 8 Pro.
As per reports, the display first started to flicker and would then experience an “abrupt brightness drop”. That would happen “every 10 seconds”, based on what the users are saying. This seemingly happens everything a video is being watched, regardless of the app. Some Pixel 7 and Pixel 9 users reported the same issue.
An audio issue is present too
A different user highlighted a similar issue during his Netflix session but added an audio issue on top of the display one. A strange issue seems to occur when the device’s EQ is enabled. Odd audio shifts have been mentioned, songs end up being much louder than videos.
One user seemingly managed to find a temporary solution for the display issue by lowering the refresh rate to 60Hz. That is, of course, not a solution, but if you’re having issues, it may be worth trying it out while Google is working on a fix.
Some users are having problems with unusually strong vibrations
That’s not all, though. It seems like some users are having problems with unusually strong device vibrations. If we add the hollow vibration issues that were reported a couple of days ago, those are two additional vibration-related problems.
Google did already admit to haptic intensity issues and seems to be working on it. The exact statement is: “The Pixel team is actively looking into reports from some Pixel users about changes to haptic intensity. To adjust your vibration settings, you can go to Settings > Sound & vibration > Vibration & haptics.”
It seems like Google will have to issue some fixes for its latest update. These are not small issues by any means.
